The Spanish Masters
Introducing the first album on the
Zenph Studios label
After four full albums with Sony Masterworks and single-track collaborations with Gordon Goodwin and Joshua Bell, Zenph is proud to unveil its own imprint, Zenph Studios, as an additional channel for exhilarating re-performances®.
The first album on the label, entitled The Spanish Masters is a collection of re-performances from three distinguished composers: Isaac Albéniz, Manuel de Falla, and Enrique Granados.
Available November 8, the album features the only known sound recordings of each composer at the piano, some dating as far as 1903 wax cylinders. Abléniz improvises, Granados offers danzas and a Scarlatti arrangement, Falla's accompaniment of a vocalist in 1928 is transformed into duets with two of classical music's rising stars, cellist Zuill Bailey and soprano Isabel Bayrakradian.
Most of us are familiar with these men as composers, but what Zenph has managed to do is give us a window into their creativity as performers - Dr. Milton Laufer
Check back soon for videos of exclusive interviews with Isabel and Zuill as they discuss performing with Manuel de Falla, as well as Milton Laufer shedding light on the historical context for the music.
The album will be available as a CD at all major retailers, and in standard and hi-res digital formats (via HDtracks).
